You may energize the body and increase your metabolism even more by using Kapalabhati and Ujjayi Pranayama. A good diet should also be followed to support this holistic weight loss system. You should try to eat foods that are rich in fibre, vegetables, fruit, whole grains, while eating less high fat and processed food items. Balance is essential in all matters concerning your diet. variety is good, as is modest consumption. A gradual approach is essential with all yoga practices. The Carbs Go In, the Cravings Come Out, that’s What Weight Gain is All About

By Beth Badore It can happen with one bite. The moment those refined carbohydrates enter my body, it sets off this chain reaction. Even the most innocent “healthy” carbs can cause an immediate and intense craving cycle. Think, pretzels, popcorn, crackers, etc. Those kinds of foods are easily eaten in quantity with a small pouch, and are all empty calories that I shouldn’t bother with. You’d think just one snack couldn’t harm the situation. You’d think one single-serve bag of pretzels wouldn’t send you in a downward spiral for an entire day. They do trigger an intense reaction, sometimes without even being aware that I am picking and and grazing on worse carbs. If the food I ingest is not only a carbohydrate, but a carbohydrate containing refined sugars in any form, I may begin to have a slight dumping sensation. It begins with a wave of feeling like You Must Lie Down For Just A Minute, dizziness, general lethargy, and if the food was something I really shouldn’t have, it may be compounded with sweating, heart-racing, gagging, retching, nausea, but never an actual vomit. Vomit would be a welcome addition to the true nasty dump session, because it would help alleviate the discomfort. You’d think that knowing you’re risking “taking a dump” by eating inappropriate foods, you’d steer clear of all foods that set off that internal warning system. DING DING DING, RED LIGHT, RED LIGHT, STEP AWAY FROM THE PRETZELS, DRY CEREAL, CRACKERS! How many of us post-op gastric bypass folks cheat anyway, knowing full well a food may make us sick, but the hell with it? How many of us find logical reasons to support our choices in inappropriate foods? You do know, I am referring to the really basic stuff, like mentioned above (like a graham cracker, dry cereals, pretzels, tortilla chips, etc… those comfort carbs that go down so easily that it’s scary), not the foods that are the most obvious and would be insane to mess with at large amounts (think, Ben & Jerry’s New York Super Fudge Chunk?). Eating either type of food (“harmless carbs vs. high sugar high fat sweets”) is reason to question your motivation to eat, since it’s not for nutrition, but sometimes it’s hard to wrap your head around the fact that a handful of Shredded Mini-Wheats is really not good for you. Think about it for a moment. When was the last time you ate _______? (Your main comfort trigger food, something you wouldn’t start eating in front of other people because you know you shouldn’t be having it at all, for me, it’s dry crunchy carbs!) Was it for nutrition? Did the calories count? The protein? Did you eat it mindfully, and take note of every bite? Did you add it to your food journal, or perhaps “forgot” that you had it altogether? I should note, since I’m not a dietician or anything, that if you’re underweight and past goal and needing to gain weight/maintain a precarious weight, you’re supposed to “break the rules.” That includes adding back these refined carbs, or drinking with meals, etc. Why? It works if you break the rules, you can gain weight. You can gain weight, you can even gain all your excess weight back. According to the research, most of us do gain, at least some of our weight. We all know how to lose weight, the surgery gives us that tool, but what we don’t realize is that it doesn’t take away the motivations we have to overeat, nor does it teach us that we can gain weight back, and fast. God and the Gays: Once Gay, Always Gay? (Part 3)

By David Ben-Ariel If we accept the Bible as the literal Word of God, and believe that God says what He means and means what He says, then we can’t escape the fact that God expressly forbids any premarital or extramarital sex. The Bible doesn’t fool around, it gets straight to the point. The Hebrew God isn’t shy. He’s also not ashamed of the anatomy He’s equipped humans with. He pulls no punches and doesn’t allow anyone to pervert His plans. Within the Instruction Manual that God gave to Israel (to give to the world), were explicit blueprints for building successful relationships between both God and man. That scriptural foundation assures us of strong and stable bonds, blessed by God (Ps. 127:1). Anything that contradicts God’s building codes undermines and condemns itself. The Bible bluntly states: 1) There’s no room in its quarters for “gay rights.” Homosexuality isn’t within the bounds of acceptable behavior. It’s practice isn’t permissible within the Christian Camp and will quickly find itself dumped outside of the City limits (Rev. 22:15). Anyone who dares to defy this ban automatically excludes himself from society at large and brings the death penalty upon himself (Gen. 2:17). We’re not supposed to tolerate any deviation, whatsoever, from the “strait and narrow” path of our God. 2) Cross-dressing, transvestism, is also out of the question (Deut. 22:5). God doesn’t want any “half-breeds” to promote their hybrid ideas that don’t mix too well with God’s Word (Lev. 19:19). There’s no ifs, ands, or buts about it - no quack psychological explanations or accepted justifications: it’s not allowed! Everything’s to be black and white, right or wrong, male or female; there’s no sense in blurring distinctions or causing unnecessary confusion (Ezek. 22:26). 3) Gay prostitutes shouldn’t even attempt to walk the streets, because they’ll find out the hard way that it’s a dead end (Deut. 23:17-18). God wants to spare us all and safeguard our homes and mind. He doesn’t want us to go past the point of no-return! Once you break down one moral barrier it’s easier to break down another. Once the floodgates of hell are opened, everyone’s swept away and sexual anarchy reigns! The barometer of a nation’s fall from grace and descent into depravity - just before national captivity and deportation - is whenever homosexuality begins to lose its purposeful stigma (Rom. 1:28). That and every other Biblically-attached stigma is to help keep us in line, remind us of what we’re doing, and force us to pay the fine. Instead of attacking the doctor’s diagnosis, we should concentrate on improving our condition! We’re free to ignore or reject the scripture’s counsel against homosexual activities, but we shouldn’t pretend that the Bible’s silent on the subject. If someone continues to smoke even after they’ve read the Surgeon General’s warnings against it, so be it. But they shouldn’t deny that they’ve voluntarily increased their risks of contracting a variety of diseases. Reason for Living Our reason for living shouldn’t be sex - but to develop a proper relationship with God! Life is meant to be far more meaningful that momentary physical pleasures. When Jesus said that “man shouldn’t live by bread alone,” He revealed there’s another dimension - the spiritual - that completes us and transcends the mundane. Our daily request for “bread” (in the Lord’s prayer sample) isn’t only a humble petition to meet all our physical needs, but that we’ll also be spiritually sustained (John 6:35). The supreme purpose in our respective lives should be to know and become more like out Father in Heaven (Mat. 5:48). Especially when you consider God created each kind after its kind, and then He made mankind after the Godkind! We’re offered the opportunity to increasingly bear the divine image and more closely resemble Him (in characteristics) daily. We’re urged to live compatible with His glorious Kingdom. At the resurrection, we’ll be born again and enter the Kingdom of God. If we want to be on God’s wavelength, come up to His level, and live in peace and harmony (with the law and order of His universe) - we need to realize and accept that certain “trees, food, and fruits” aren’t kosher, but are off-limits, taboo! We need to avoid those pitfalls and steer clear of such danger-zones if we’re to survive this unique journey (Prov. 4:15). We don’t want to become another casualty along the way (Prov. 15:10). God hasn’t singled out the gays for any special treatment - or persecution! He’s not homophobic, racist, or sexist: God is Love. And because God loves us all, He has high hopes and dreams for us. That’s why God’s graciously given us some guidelines and helpful instructions for happy, healthy, and wholesome living: the Tree of Life (1 John 5:3). These voluntary restrictions (you are a free moral-agent) are intended to enhance our lives and enable us to truly enjoy our experiences as humans (John 10:10; Deut. 4:40). They gently regulate our food, thoughts, worship, behavior, drink - every facet of our lives - and benefit every fiber of our being. Sin is sin (Rom. 3:23). Transgression - the breaking - of these practical principles is self-destructive (1 John 3:4; Ezek. 18:31). God forbids any hanky-panky, plain and simple! He doesn’t target homosexuals or put them first in the line-up of sex-offenders (1 Cor. 6:9). We need to put everything in context, within perspective and Biblical focus. Too often today, especially on the too many talk-shows (Mat. 12:36), things are too easily distorted, twisted, and confused. These vital issues are usually viewed from the wrong angle, broached with dishonest motivations and questioned by prejudiced people (Gen. 3:1). How they live for the applause of their “broad-minded” crowd (John 12:34)! Generally, you can’t reason with such a mob-mentality or argue with their sick minds (Mat. 7:6). God condemns those “enlightened” hosts who turn things upside down (Isa. 5:20; 2 Cor. 11:14). Regardless of their ratings or rantings, they’re not too popular with God. We don’t have to remain slaves to sin. Christ can set us free (John 8:36). Should the living dwell among the dead (John 5:25)? Why stay down and out, when you’re able to improve your situation, rise above your circumstances, and be within God’s grace (Col. 2:13)? Once gay always gay? How about once an adulterer always an adulterer? Better yet, once a sinner always a sinner (1 Cor. 6:11; 1 John 1:9)? WHO says so? Only if you choose to become a “hardened criminal.” You can make progress toward perfection! You can refuse to go with the flow, change the course of your thought-patterns, and escape from the belly of the beast (Ephes. 2:1-6). You can stage a revolt and go free! You don’t have to die in “Egypt.” Once a sinner, NOW a saint! There isn’t any sin too great, or problem deep-rooted, or mind that’s scarred, that Christ can’t reach or touch or heal (Ps. 139:7-12; Mat. 15:30). Who would dare condemn whom God has forgiven (Rom. 8:1)? God sent Christ into your world to save, not destroy; to forgive, not damn; to help, not hurt (Luke 9:56). Even Jesus’ Hebrew name declares His good intentions toward us (Mat. 1:21). Pulls From the Past Without a doubt, there’ll be strong pulls from the past and pressure to revert to old, familiar ways: testing our resolve, trying our mettle, and cross-examining our conversion (Deut. 8:2-3). They’re to be expected (1 Pet. 4:12), but should be put in proper perspective (Heb. 12:11-13). The very fact that you’re now a part of the “Resistance Movement,” and engage in bitter conflicts (refusing to surrender), proves your patriotism and displays your determination to win (Ga. 5:17). God respects and will reward your efforts (Heb. 6:10; 11:6). They’ve been brought to His attention repeatedly (Ps. 116:15). You’re not left to fend for yourself! You might feel like it, but you’re not all alone. We have a Great Helper, an Unseen Assistant, who can handle anything that might befall us during this battle (Heb. 4:14-16). When we’re pardoned, WE’RE EMPOWERED to overcome our past (Jn. 1:12). God enables us to withstand the onslaught of sin, and remain within the good graces of our Governor (Isa. 9:11; Jude 24). Although you may still feel “gay,” your reorientation hasn’t taken full effect yet (Ephes. 4:23; Jas. 1:4), DON’T GET DISCOURAGED! Be happy that you’ve made progress, and that you’re even trying to better yourself. That’s a miracle in itself. Trust in God (Philip. 4:13). He’ll see you through thick and thin, and He’ll stay by your side “come hell or high water” (Isa. 43:1-2). It’s true that “We conquer by continuing.” DON’T GIVE UP! Keep up the struggle: everything you believe in is worth fighting for (Matt. 11:12). You can rest assured that you’re very precious to God. He knows you by name. “Once gay always gay” is a damn LIE! It denies Christ’s ability to save and slanders His sacrifice as insufficient! We don’t have to believe that propaganda though it’s repeated a thousand times. It’s nothing more than psychological warfare (2 Cor. 2:11). It’s jealously directed against those who’ve sobered up and have made an about-face in life (1 Pet. 5:8). Conversion - change - is possible, but it demands patience. Purification is a process that takes time ( 1 John 3:3; Isa. 48:10). It all begins in the mind. We don’t have to remain subject to sin’s every whim and desire (Rom. 6:14). Slowly but surely, the homosexual obsession will lose its hold over our lives. God can rid us of its side-effects, break our hobbling habits, and release us from the ball and chain of our past (Isa. 45:2). Christ will gently assist and energize us as we carry on (Isa. 40:29). We’re to unburden ourselves before the Father in heartfelt prayer (Mat. 11:28-30; 1 Pet. 5:7), like Jesus did when He was here (Heb. 5:7). Everyone’s offered this opportunity of a lifetime: to start over, have a new lease on life, and to wipe the slate clean. It’s our option. It’s your choice. The “Smothering Technique”

By Don Diebel This week let’s talk about what I call the “smothering technique” to turn women off and drive them away from you. This is how I describe this technique: After first meeting a girl, you call her all the time, sometimes twice or more a day at her work and at home. And when you can’t reach her, you get all upset. You keep thinking to yourself, where in the hell is she? Is she seeing someone else, is she trying to avoid me, has she lost interest in me, etc. You just keep worrying and worrying. When you do get in touch with her you ask her, “Where have you been, I’ve been trying to get in touch with you!” And you keep repeating this pattern of calling her all the time to where it reaches the point where you become a pest. She is totally turned off and needs her space and all you are doing is driving her further away from you. Please, guys don’t do this! It’s only going to backfire when you try to smoother her. How often should you call? Just call her every other day will be just fine and don’t linger on the phone for hours as if you had nothing better to do with your life and your whole world revolves around her. Just keep it brief and say what you have to say. By not calling so often this will make her think about you. She will be wondering what you’re doing and she might even wonder why you haven’t called and that’s good because it gets her to thinking about you. Do You “Work to Live” or “Live to Work”?

By Charlotte Burton Lets be realistic here - hands up all of you who bounce out of bed every single morning, raring to get to work and enjoying yourself every minute of the day? If you didnt put your hand up (even metaphorically), youre not alone. There have been so many articles published recently about working statistics in the UK - that Brits work the longest hours in the EU, that we have higher risks of heart disease than our continental friends due to stress and poor diet, there has been a rise in people “downshifting” and moving to the country to raise chickens and weave baskets. But many people who dream of doing just that dont, especially when there are so many television programs on, which show all the grisly details about how people who do downshift simply exchange one set of problems for another. While there are many people who make a real success of changing their careers in such a dramatic fashion, it might be worthwhile sorting out what problems you do have with your current career before making that radical decision to downshift. First Things First The first place to start is to think about why you chose to do what you do - what was it about Law that attracted you originally? Was it the logic that attracted you? Or the feeling of winning? Or the love of solving problems? Or was it the safe thing to do? Were your parents lawyers and pushed you in that direction? Was it for the money? Even if the last few questions ring true for you, you can still enjoy your work. What do you actually do? Think about all the aspects of your job: what do you actually do during the day? Speak to people on the phone? Do research? Prepare reports? Present at meetings? If you do more than two of the above on a daily basis, youre not so different to many office workers. So think about what part of the day you look forward to - apart from going-home time. Do you enjoy the challenge of presenting, or love learning new facts, or talking and interacting with other people? Try thinking about your day in terms of the actual things you do and what you can get out of each different task. Could you delegate or reassign the tasks you dont like doing and shift the majority of your workload towards the things you prefer? Or can you think about it all in a different way? How much of your day is spent doing the things you actually like? If it is less that 50%, will you settle for that? Try doing a rated pro/con list of everything you do, with each item being scored on a 1-5 scale, where 1 means you love it and 5 means you cant stand it. If you have lots of 1s on your pro list and lots of 3s on your con list, thats good, but if it is the other way around, and your pro items are all scored at 3 and your con list is all at 5, you may want to think about re-evaluating your career. People Problems Treat people are THEY wish to be treated What if the people that surround you are what makes you dread walking through the door in the morning? Do you have an annoying boss, colleague or client? If you heart sinks when a certain person opens their mouth - for whatever reason (condescension, cattiness or plain stupidity), try thinking about what exactly it is that is rubbing you the wrong way. Youre you - deserving of respect and care. But doesnt that go the other way too? Theres that old saying “treat others as you wish to be treated”, but surely everyone is different? Shouldnt that really be altered to say “treat everyone as THEY wish to be treated”? This requires you to actually attempt to understand other people - and while it takes that bit more effort, it can help you reduce unnecessary friction and make the people who surround you daily into more than just people who work in the same location. Change Yourself, not Others No doubt youve heard it before - you cant change someone else. What you can do is change your attitude and behaviour towards them. If youre being defensive around one person always, try thinking about why that is - is there some niggle in your mind saying that this person is not on the same level as you. Are you jealous of the way they are and the way they live? If they are junior to you in experience and position, but are the darling of the boss, is their progress something that you wish had happened to you? What would happen if you started treating them as an equal? Respond with Care What about if you are being treated unfairly? If you are reacting to this with a very hostile manner, you are really tying yourself into a viscious circle where it will be impossible to escape with your self-esteem, dignity and reputation intact. I dont mean to say take it on the chin, but you can do a lot about situations like these without actually bringing yourself down to a level where relations are irreparably damaged. For instance, you dont need to show your boss that your colleague is being badly behaved by using the style of a schoolgirl tattling to her teacher. Try speaking to the person who is upsetting you and explaining why their behaviour is so hurtful, and suggesting an alternate way of interacting. Often, people really just dont realise that what they are doing is offensive or mean, and may actually think that it is a lighthearted joke. And if you are able to present this to them in a way that does not resemble a personal attack, you may be able to rescue the situation without any problems at all. Obviously there are times where this wont work, and this may require you to evaluate the values of those around you - and if they dont match yours, you will need to think your options through in rather more detail. Case Study 1 - Work-Life Balance One client of mine recently posed the problem that there was no chance of her ever enjoying her job, and refused to consider looking for a new one. I was quite shocked by this statement - as she was basically refusing to do anything about her problem, but I couldnt resist the challenge. So I set her the task of removing two bad things from other areas of her life (not her work), and replacing them with two good things every week and introducing a weekly reward into her life for all the bad things she still had to do. Initially she started by replacing an unhealthy breakfast with a healthy one, and secondly she replaced vegging out mindlessly in front of the telly every evening with going out for dinner regularly. As her treat in the first week she went and had a massage and facial on Saturday. Each week she repeated this process, with things like gettting a new chair for her home office so she could sit correctly while surfing the internet, and going and doing the exercise she really enjoyed (squash) rather than going to the gym. One day, she told me that she was actually enjoying getting up every morning as she had something to look forward to every evening after work. She no longer slept late at the weekend and did nothing of note for two whole days, but got out and did things that shed been missing, like going to galleries and the theatre. She was in a highly paid job so all she was doing before was watching her bank balance rise and rise, work harder and harder and never see any benefit from working herself into the ground. Most importantly, she started rediscovering her love for her work as she now had the energy to tackle her highly demanding job. Case study 2 - Control Issues Another client of mine was constantly rushing from one drama to another and loved her job in theory, but hated it in practice, and realised that her lack of time was affecting her life outside her work as well as her health. We implemented a prioritising plan and she committed herself to learning a relaxation technique, but also we tackled the cause of her stress: her belief that each and every task had to be done immediately and by her alone. By learning how to delegate and prioritise - as well as understanding where her need for control came from - she was able to alleviate and ultimately remove the cause of her stress - and ultimately become happier and more fulfilled, and, most importantly more productive: shes just closed a deal which she truly thought she would have no chance on thanks to the sheer volume of work that needed doing in preparation. Her assistant now handles most of that, and appreciates the extra responsibility along with the pay raise! NB It is all too important that when dealing with stress you attack it on both sides - the symptoms and the cause. If you only treat the symptoms you will keep having to treat them. By removing the cause, you remove the need to constantly treat the symptoms as well. Stay or Go - fix your problems first either way If you are truly not enjoying your job, it is important to find out why. If it is due to something that is relatively simple to fix, there is no need to go through the hassle of upheaving your whole life. However, there are many cases where the career youre in is just not suited to you. Do you really want to be spending a third of your life (or more) doing what youre doing? If you dont, youre not alone. Recent reports show that the average number of careers a person has in their working lifetime is 3 - and that figure is increasing. If you are truly bored by your job, gather up your resources and change! Remember though, that you may be taking the same problems with you, so it might be worth working them out now and getting them fixed before you make the move. Charlotte Burton 2004. By Terrie Cogswell Bridal Shower Ideas Most couples receive wedding gifts on two separate occasions, at the bridal shower and the reception. To avoid receiving multiple items of the same thing that will probably end up being returned or stashed away in the attic, I offer a solution. Prier to the bridal shower, the bride to be can make a list of items that they would need or like to have for their home. After the opening of the shower gifts, she can check off on the list, the items that have been received. The host of the shower can now take little strips of paper and write down the items that the bride and groom still need or would like. (One item per slip of paper) Beneath the item, also write ‘or gift card’. Place all of the slips of paper into a hat, bucket, or can. The host can then pass it around the room or leave it near the door, where each of the guests can pick a slip before leaving the shower. The guest will now have the option of purchasing that particular gift for the wedding, or giving a gift card. This idea, cuts down on the double items, and the bride and groom can also use the gift cards to purchase what they still need or want for their new home. I have listed some unique gift ideas below. Most of these items are sometimes left unthought-of for the upcoming exciting event, but also come in very handy for a new couple and a new home. Diet fast and make no lifestyle changes. Diet fast and fail at long term weight loss. Fast weight loss impacts your dieting efforts in so many negative ways, it’s hard to imagine how any fast dieting attempts could produce healthy results. The only thing I can think of is to use a lower goal for your weight loss. At a 5% weight reduction, your health improves, diet shock is minimized, and it’s fast. So, if planned properly, you can lose weight fast, in shorter time periods focusing on 5% reductions in total body weight. At first, you will lose mostly muscle and water. But as you progress through each period, more and more fat will burn and less muscle. The way I see it, no matter how many fast weight loss warnings we write about, many of you will try the next one that hits the market. Instead of fighting, I want to work with you and provide you the healthiest yet fastest way to lose weight. The Healthiest Fast Weight Loss Plan Slow and consistent, a healthy weight loss plan delivers small successes everyday, building momentum along the way, peaking at the point in time when you reach you’re goal. This is key to dieting success. Most dieters do the opposite…they experience fast weight loss early, their momentum peaks mid-way, and by the end of the diet, they are completely deflated. With no energy left to carry them into the next stage of weight loss — weight gain prevention — most dieters give up at this point. My fast weight loss plan avoids the deflation and lack of motivation at the end of the diet because it evenly spreads the weight loss over 6 weeks. When do most dieters lose the most weight? Weeks 1-3. On my plan? Weeks 2-5. No, these results are not from a good rigorous clinical study. Instead, they are my own observation of several patients I follow in Dallas. Healthy Fast Weight Loss Steps Week One, Part One — drink a protein shake supplement everyday. Do not change anything else. Drink a protein shake that’s a 50:50 mix of whey to casein proteins. The best time to drink the shake depends on your physical activities. Since most bodybuilders know what to do, I suggest for the rest of us, a protein shake between breakfast and lunch or between lunch and dinner. The time you choose depends on when you have the longest period of fasting. For me, it’s between lunch and dinner, so my shake comes around 3pm. Week One, Part Two — Start an exercise program, with the first week involving nothing but stretching major muscle groups. Stretching increases the tonal stimulation to muscles (tone) causing them to burn more calories at rest. Plus it protects against injuries. The second week start some form of low impact aerobics…walking! Walk for 40 minutes everyday. Week Two — Start dieting by replacing 1/2 of a meal with the same protein shake from last week. Do this for 1 week. Week Three — Replace one whole meal with a protein shake. Change the mixture of the shake to 60% whey and 40% casein proteins. For most people, this comes out to about a 500 calorie reduction. Week Four — Reduce caloric intake by another 250 calories. I suggest adding a second protein shake, made up of the same 60:40 mix and use it to replace 1/2 of a another meal. Record the amount of weight you’re losing. Never let it reach a rate of more than 4 pounds per week (that’s double what I normally recommend). Week Five — Repeat week four. Week Six — Add back the last 250 calories you dropped and stop drinking the second shake. End Result — 12 to 18 pounds of average weight loss. The exact amount depends on many factors including exercise. Fast Weight Loss Summary Don’t do it. Fast weight loss inevitably will lead to future weight gain. Just don’t do it. It makes people smile, sometimes even feel a bit giddy. After all, this holiday is not about obligatory gifts. When you receive a Valentine’s Day gift, you know the giver cares about you. Valentine’s Day, while traditionally for sweethearts, is really just a day to show the ones you love how much you care. Friends and family routinely send Valentine’s Day cards; even moms get valentines from their own children. This Valentine’s Day, why not take the time to appreciate someone who rarely gets your attention; someone who deserves a thoughtful gift and a few kind words? Someone like you! Once you have completed the laborious task of writing your resume and submitting it to various companies, you now have to pass the screen test to get the job. Interviews are the gateway to landing your ideal job. These five tips will help you get own your way to making that job yours. Tip#1 Be Confident Your first impression is your only impression. Nothing is worse than a limp handshake, slumped shoulders, poor eye contact or poor communication skills. A potential employer can tell immediately if you are the man or woman for this job by your body language. Although aggressiveness is a turn-off, being passive gives the indication that you are not sure of yourself or your qualifications. Keep eye contact when answering questions or when the interviewer is speaking directly to you. Smile occasionally to show your interest and enthusiasm. Keeping a steady gaze on the interviewer can be disturbing to an interviewer. Look away occasionally. Lean forward to show that you are interested in what the interviewer is saying. Speak in a concise and clear voice. If you have problems annunciating certain words, dont try to use them on an interview. You can ask questions about something you read, but dont challenge them or youll come across as a know-it-all. Tip# 4 Be Prepared Know what to say. Most interviewers ask the same standard questions about your strengths, weaknesses, former employers, work history. If you are being interviewed by several people, this might be a good cop, bad cop situation. Pay attention to who is playing bad cop, they are looking for signs of weakness and dishonesty. To be well prepared, before the interview, write out all your accomplishments, both personal and professional. List your strengths and weaknesses. Be honest, its easier to remember the truth than it is a lie. Extra Tip: Write out situations in which you have demonstrated: leadership skills, determination, stress management, creativity, and flexibility. Be prepared to answer the question: Why do you want this job? If youre not sure, reevaluate your decision.
